Spaniard Rafael Nadal lost in the first time ever in a Grand slam to Cezch Republic,Tomas Berdych in straight sets 6-2 6-0 7-6 to progress into the semi finals of the Australian Open, in Melbourne.
Berdych also avoided becoming the first man to lose 18 straight tour-level long tennis matches against a single player. This win over Nadal marked his first win since 2006 Madrid quarter-finals.
